I do my best to keep the "outside world" separate from this podcast. But I couldn't act like everything was normal this week. Nothing was normal about the what happened in Las Vegas. And I kept hearing the same thing over and over: "Nothing is going to change."
The reason behind that statement was that Congress won't do anything to change the laws. The right won't talk to the left, and the left won't talk to the right. But to me, the problem is bigger than that. We, as Americans, won't even talk to one another. We demonize people who don't agree with our beliefs. Anyone who is for gun control is a "leftist liberal hippy," while anyone who opposes it is a "conservative gun clinger."

This week I wanted to do my small part to try to change that. This week, we take a detour from Disney to talk about politics and guns and race. We talk with and listen to one another. We ask questions. We don't all agree or end up singing "It's a Small World" at the end, but we hear each other out and come to a better understanding of each person's position.
If you want to skip this episode, I get it. We'll be back to Disney next week. But please take a second to talk with someone you might disagree with this week. We can't change anything if we don't talk to one another.
